FREMONT, CA: Storage Made Easy announces that it selects the Storage Made Easy (SME) Enterprise File Fabric to transition employees to the Cloud in the present remote working environment. Adams Wealth Advisors is an investment advisory firm that has grown between 30 percent and 40 percent annually over the last three years. The pandemic's start forced most of the staff to work from home, generating problems for an infrastructure built to help employees working from the office. All storage was on-premises, and it seemed like remote users were working at the dawn of the computer age rather than in the world of work from anywhere in the era of cloud computing.
The File Fabric appeal was that it was tailored to help remote work, security, and governance, and partnership all together in one turnkey service in the Cloud. Migrating the on-premises NAS data onto the Cloud was supported by Storage Made Easy and was straightforward. The firm used Rclone, an open-source data tiering application developed in support of the File Fabric. Data was tiered to Amazon S3 over a weekend.
The File Fabric offers many methods for Adams Wealth users to access their Amazon S3 data, including a web browser UI, mobile devices, and Cloud Drive. The File Fabric offers capabilities not easily available natively, including features like locking, versioning, and trash. The trash potential has been especially useful on several occasions. From a security and compliance perspective, the File Fabric has offered significant new potentials. Key items include streamed encryption and an audit trail that gathers all data access events, leveraged for compliance.
Document collaboration with clients and partners now happens directly from the main server. There is no requirement to duplicate files to external consumer sync services. With controls like link duration, the number of downloads, passwords, and the audit trail, collaboration is efficient and secure.
