Self-care looks different for all of us. For some, it’s a spa day complete with sheet masks, bubble baths, and a good book. For others, it’s an hour spent with your favorite candle burning while sipping a soothing cup of tea. Now, imagine a store that could give you the perfect products to make both of these self-care routines the best they can be?
Ladies and gents, let us introduce you to Go Easy.
When Molly Mathias, co-founder of popular Dallas-based store Magic Hour entered lockdown when Covid-19 hit, she did something many of us did—focused on herself as a way of coping. For Mathias, this meant getting acquainted with a variety of different self-care and meditation practices. As she became increasingly fond of her self-care journey, she realized her customers at Magic Hour were right there with her.
“We were getting a ton of more orders from our small apothecary section, and people were wanting to send their friends little self-care packages,” said Mathias. “That’s when I had this idea and thought, Why don’t we just have a whole store dedicated to these types of products?”
Go Easy was born in November 2020. Though the shop has only been open for a few months, the fan base that’s formed around the self-care shop has grown at an astounding rate. Mathias says this was due in large part to her supportive social media followers.
“I knew when I had the idea that it was a good one, so I floated it around Instagram asking my followers what they’d be interested in,” Mathias says. “I got so much feedback, and people were so excited before I even opened. It’s been really incredible”
After their online store and Bishop Arts brick-and-mortar location in Dallas saw such immediate success, Mathias knew it was time to expand. Though she had hopes of opening a store in Austin (which still isn’t out of the question), after touring a space in M-K-T, she knew she had found Go Easy’s future home.
“I was just blown away by the M-K-T development, the team there, and just the Heights in general,” Mathias says. “Once I saw everything I was like, ‘Okay, you know what, I’m in. Let’s do Houston!’”
Since then, Mathias and her parents have taken off full speed to prepare for the store’s opening this summer. What can you expect when walking through Go Easy’s doors for the first time? I can assure you, it will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
With sections dedicated to a variety of self-care categories, such as skincare, CBD, sexual wellness, smoking accessories, postpartum products, and more, anyone looking for much-needed relaxation will feel like a kid in a candy store upon entering the shop. Mathias personally suggests keeping an eye out for the CBD bath bombs. After a quick 15-minute soak, the CBD will seep into your pores and leave you having one of the best sleeps of your life—you can thank her later.
“I just want to cover all of the bases, so no matter who you are or where you are in your self-care or self-reflection journey, we have something for you,” says Mathias. “We’re also a non-judgmental zone. You can come in and ask us about vibrators, or CBD lubricants or arousal oils, and we can give you the gossip on it.”
So if you’re looking to step up your self-care game (which face it, after 2020 I think we all are), mark your calendars for the arrival of Go Easy. Mathias assures us you’ll be greeted with smiling faces, relaxing music, and a cooler full of CBD drinks to assist you in your shopping.
