Edin Dzeko was all smiles at full-time after his goal in the 72nd minute handed Roma a 1-0 victory over Sampdoria this afternoon in the Italian capital.
It wasn’t an aesthetically pleasing match due to the nonstop rain, but the Giallorossi did just enough to grab all three points against Claudio Ranieri’s men, who frustrated Roma throughout the game.
“It seems like it rains every single time that we face Sampdoria,” joked the Bosnian to DAZN. “It wasn’t easy today, but we didn’t concede much. We had to push a little more in the second half and we managed to do so.”
“I’m glad my goal was able to get us the three points. I must say, it was a very good goal! I kept asking Karsdorp to deliver a cross near post and he put in a beautiful cross.”
He added, “We’re halfway through the season, today’s win and the fact that we’re sitting in third place gives us confidence. The transfer market? January is always tough, it’s hard to find players but it can be done and the team can be improved.”
