BOYS BASKETBALL
Archbishop Hoban 62, Willoughby ISA 28
Senior guard Colin Jaroch poured in seven 3-pointers to lead Hoban to an opening-night victory at home Friday. Jaroch's career-high 21 points and Isaiah Young's 13 points paced the Knights. Jaroch scored two 3-pointers in the first, second and fourth quarters.
Jackson 88, Coventry 59
Michael Skeriotis, Kevin James, Mack Kistler and Owen Woolbert each scored in double figures in Jackson's season-opening nonleague win at Coventry. Skeriotis was 5-for-6 from behind the 3-point line and led the Polar Bears with 17 points. James added 16 points, followed by Kistler (15) and Woolbert (11).
Lucas Wagner led all scorers with 19 points for Coventry (0-1).
Brunswick 73, Parma Normandy 64
Tre Massey and Marquis Barnett each scored more than 20 points to lead the Blue Devils (2-0) to a nonleague home victory. Massey led all scorers with 26 points and Barnett had 21.
Canton McKinley 58, Lake 51
The visiting Bulldogs took charge in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Blue Streaks 27-22 in a Federal League season opener. Tae Perie's 16 points led the way for McKinley.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Green 134, GlenOak 45
The Bulldogs won 12-of-13 events over visiting GlenOak to post a Federal League win. Taylor Peterson tallied 254.05 points on her six dives to set a Green school record while winning the 1-meter diving.
BOYS SWIMMING
Green 136, GlenOak 34
Parker Doerrer won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles and was on Green's winning 200 medleyand 400 freestyle relays as the host Bulldogs posted an event sweep. Individual winners for Green included Noah Budd (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke), Camden Doerrer (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Andrew Fearigo (100 butterfly) and Caleb Carr (100 breaststroke).
BOYS BOWLING
Springfield 2,405, Woodridge 2,276
Jerry Koerber rolled games of 248 and 245 to lead the Spartans (3-0) to victory at Legend Lanes in Cuyahoga Falls. Angelo Biondo's 461 series topped Woodridge (2-1).
GIRLS BOWLING
Woodridge 2,049, Springfield 1,721
The Bulldogs were up 253 pins after the first two games and extended their lead in the three baker games to post a Metro Athletic Conference win at Legend Lanes. Abby Bergdorf led Woodridge with a 444 series with Breauna Neal adding a 369 series for the hosts.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Copley 53, Mayfield 19
Ashley Kerekes scored 13 points and Kami Ayoup had 12 as the host Indians won easily in a nonleague game.
HOCKEY
Walsh Jesuit 5, Springboro 1
Garrett Pazey opened the scoring and closed it with two goals as the Warriors opened the first of three weekend games in Dayton with a victory. Pazey's first-period goal was assisted by Jackson Kerscher, and the senior forward closed his offensive night by scoring again with less than five minutes to play.
Kerscher added a short-handed goal in the third period that put Walsh up 4-1. In the second period, Hunter Nalepka had an unassisted score and Aidan Cook found net with an assist by Bill Holtzer.
