It's a new way of physical distancing that gives a physical reminder of just how far apart six-feet really is.
Adults in Motion, with locations in K-W and Cambridge, presents the "Buddystick."
It's a PVC pipe with handles that is simply six-feet long.
Adults in Motion Executive Director Shelley Murphy says it started as an idea to help participants in their program learn about physical distancing and be able to do something as simple as safely going on a walk.
Adults in Motion runs programs for adults with developmental disabilities, and Murphy says they, like many groups, have had to make many changes over the past few months.
"There is that much more risk, in the sense that we have to be careful in many different ways, so our new normal will be as close to what we know and to have those connections, but there are definitely going to be some changes that we are going to see for a really long time."
The Buddystick isn't just for those with developmental disabilities.
"It allows for walking, if you're walking with someone who needs a physical reminder of how far we need to stay apart, you can hold it on either end...it can also be used as a measuring stick."
Murphy says they have sold the stick to some businesses, spoken with various education centres, and anyone can purchase the product online.
